Computer Generations – कंप्यूटर की पीढ़ियाँ



Computer Generations refer to the different stages in the development of computer technology. Each generation introduced a major technological improvement that made computers smaller, faster, more reliable and more powerful.

कंप्यूटर की पीढ़ियाँ (Computer Generations) कंप्यूटर तकनीक के विकास के विभिन्न चरणों को दर्शाती हैं। प्रत्येक पीढ़ी में नई तकनीक का विकास हुआ, जिससे कंप्यूटर अधिक छोटे, तेज, विश्वसनीय और शक्तिशाली बनते गए।

The five commonly studied generations are:

First Generation → Second Generation → Third Generation → Fourth Generation → Fifth Generation


1. First Generation – प्रथम पीढ़ी

Period: 1940–1956

The first generation of computers used Vacuum Tubes for processing and memory operations.

प्रथम पीढ़ी के कंप्यूटरों में processing के लिए Vacuum Tubes (वैक्यूम ट्यूब) का उपयोग किया जाता था।

2. Second Generation – द्वितीय पीढ़ी

Period: 1956–1963

The second generation replaced vacuum tubes with Transistors. Computers became smaller, faster and more reliable.

द्वितीय पीढ़ी में Vacuum Tubes के स्थान पर Transistors (ट्रांजिस्टर) का उपयोग किया गया। इससे कंप्यूटर छोटे, तेज और अधिक विश्वसनीय बने।

तृतीय पीढ़ी में Integrated Circuits (IC) का प्रयोग शुरू हुआ। इससे कंप्यूटर का आकार और कम हुआ तथा performance और reliability में सुधार हुआ।
